“Isn’t your job dry?” I hear this question quite often when I say that I work as an auditor, tax advisor and now associate partner at ALR. But in fact, my profession is anything but.
When I boot up my notebook in the office or home office in the morning, I first get an overview of the upcoming appointments and tasks and plan my day. At the end of the day, however, I often find that I have deviated from my original plan, either because colleagues or clients have added other tasks. This means that my workdays cannot always be planned, but they are all the more varied and interesting.
It may be, for example, that in one of the regularly held meetings with a client, in which, for example, the planning of the annual audits is discussed, special sales tax issues are discussed that entail a short-term change in the entire group of companies. The basis for this is that we provide our clients with full support.
I PARTICULARLY APPRECIATE THE INSIGHT INTO A WIDE RANGE OF INDUSTRIES
Thus, in addition to the statutory annual or consolidated financial statement audits or preparations, we usually also provide tax support, which gives us a comprehensive insight into the business activities of the companies.
This insight into companies of different industries, sizes and legal forms is another aspect that I value in my work. It not only helps me to serve my clients in the best possible way, it also means that I am interested in a wide variety of topics in my private life and thus keep my knowledge up to date and expand it.
I also consider it very special that I am still looking after a large part of the clients that I assisted when I started at ALR as an intern and then as a student trainee.
MY VARIED WORK IN A GREAT TEAM
Regardless of whether I am doing something scheduled or unscheduled, there is always close contact with my colleagues. Thus, I work with a constant team of professionals, graduates, tax clerks and working students, with whom I handle all tasks. The resulting dual control principle not only ensures the quality of our work, but also often brings new impulses, which in turn benefit our clients.
And while my workdays are usually different, my evenings off are often similar. I spend these with my husband and our joint daughter, as well as our two dogs, going for walks or cycling.
