You will work on a wide range of tasks related to client accounting. Mostly independently and for a fixed client base. This includes financial and asset accounting, the preparation and preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, customer-related evaluations, the income statement, the profit and loss statement and the balance sheet.
The preparation of commercial tax returns is also part of the tax clerk’s area of responsibility. This includes sales, income, trade and property tax returns. Furthermore, tax assessments have to be checked and tax returns have to be prepared.
VARIED ACTIVITIES AND EXCITING CHALLENGES
As a tax clerk, you also prepare important meetings with clients by compiling the required documents and initial analyses. Before the appointment, the tax consultant will discuss the analyses with you and then explain them to the client accordingly. Our tax assistants are often present at the appointments because they are very familiar with the subject area and can thus support the tax consultant in a goal-oriented manner.
In addition, tax clerks create their clients, i.e. they create charts of accounts and open accounts; they account for and post business transactions and also close accounts. The review of client account assignments and, depending on the client, the preparation of the advance VAT return or the recapitulative statement are also among the tasks of the tax clerk.
We have a dedicated team at our Leipzig branch specifically for payroll accounting. We find that this is a complex field of activity and have therefore bundled the competencies. Here, too, our colleagues look after a fixed client base, prepare evaluations and communicate with tax offices, health insurance companies and authorities.
THE WORKLOAD IN THE INDUSTRY IS OFTEN WELL ABOVE THE 40 HOURS/WEEK LIMIT. WHAT IS IT LIKE AT ALR?
In our opinion, work should never be the sole purpose of life. We are convinced that colleagues with a fulfilling “life outside work” are more balanced and team-oriented overall. We are not surprised when colleagues come in late or leave early. What counts is the work result and not the presence in hours. The average working time for full-time positions in our firm across all employee groups is 42 hours per week. Of course, as a service company, we are not an overtime-free zone. And yes, if something has to be finished urgently, our colleagues fortunately also stay longer on their own responsibility once in a while. What is important to us is that you feel responsible for the tasks assigned to you and that you work as part of a team to achieve results. We don’t want you to become the overtime king of the firm.
WHAT CAREER OPPORTUNITIES DO I HAVE AS A TAX SPECIALIST AT ALR?
In perspective, the next step is further training to become a tax specialist. We expressly welcome this and support our employees both professionally with our extensive internal and external training programs, so that you will have a steep learning curve. We subsidize the training with 50% of the costs and support with a flexible working time model. And who knows, after the tax specialist degree you don’t have to stop there…
